This month, the STEAM 10 teams came back from their winter breaks to continue working on their projects, and everyone is making great progress! The teams are now busy testing out their ideas and refining their project through trial-and-error. We are so excited to present what everyone has accomplished this month, so we hope you enjoy our newest update!

Discovering the Titanic
- What’s been going well: making regular, productive updates to the game, such as making a pop-up main menu once the player joins; gaining familiarity with Roblox Studio’s keyboard shortcuts make this process more efficient.
- What’s been challenging: coding in Lua often does not give the expected output, which requires a lot of trial and error; it is also very time-consuming
- Next step: focusing the team on one goal at a time; at this moment, it is working on the pop-up menu and closely inspecting every line of code to figure out what each command does. We will also spend more time out of class to work on our game.

Growing Flowers with a Hydroponic System
- What’s been going well: utilizing time-lapse camera to film videos documenting the plants’ growth, and upload it onto Google Drive; our new growing system is also working well
- What’s been challenging: the videos are large files taking up a lot of space; we are also unsure if we will still get flowers without changing our lighting system
- Next steps: we will research how to adjust the lighting period to encourage the flowers to bloom

- What’s been going well: staying on track with our planner. We will start recording this week!
- What’s been challenging: planning our scripts to be both conversational and informational is challenging. There’s also a lot of tedious writing involved.
- Next steps: we will spend more time to make an outline of our script. We think it’s also important to just dive into the writing process head-first by getting down many ideas to brainstorm.

EWS STEAM
- What’s been going well: changing the CSS for the subpages. We designed each subpage according to each group’s preferred color scheme and symbols.
- What’s been challenging: designing the main page. We successfully made it scroll horizontally, but it is very confusing and difficult to navigate.
- Next steps: we will improve the UX design by making an additional header and/or an arrow that shows the visitor how to scroll.
